Inflation Accelerates Further, Weekly Increase Recorded Again

Islamabad (Commerce Desk): The impact of tensions in the Middle East is becoming evident on Pakistan’s economy, as inflation has increased for the second consecutive week after Ramadan.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics’ weekly report, inflation rose by 1.01% during the latest week. Previously, it had increased by 0.97% in the prior week and 0.21% in the week before that.

On an annual basis, the inflation rate has climbed from 8.24% to 9.12%. The report shows that during the recent week, prices of 15 essential items increased, 9 items became cheaper, while 27 items remained stable.

Among the items that saw price hikes were mutton, tomatoes, beef, eggs, milk, and chicken. LPG prices increased by 13.28%, eggs by 2.23%, and chicken by 2.13%. Prices of mash lentils, mutton, milk, yogurt, beef, and masoor lentils also went up.

On the other hand, prices of potatoes, tomatoes, onions, garlic, sugar, mustard oil, and flour recorded a decline. However, overall inflationary pressure persists, and the public has yet to receive significant relief.
