Levy on High-Octane Fuel for Luxury Cars Increased to Rs 300 per Liter

Islamabad (Commerce Desk): The government has taken a major decision regarding petroleum products, issuing a notification to increase the additional levy on high-octane fuel used in luxury vehicles by Rs 200 per liter, raising the total levy to Rs 300 per liter.

In a video link meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it was decided that the current Rs 100 per liter levy on high-octane fuel for the most expensive cars will be increased by Rs 200, effective immediately.

According to the official statement, this measure is expected to save the government Rs 9 billion per month. Following the Prime Minister’s directive, these savings will be used to provide relief to the public. The aim of the decision is to reduce the economic burden while ensuring that the wealthiest contribute their share.

It was clarified that fuel prices for lower- and middle-class vehicles will remain unchanged, and there will be no increase in fares for public transport or airlines. The new price of high-octane fuel is set at Rs 535 per liter.
