Ankara (Showbiz Desk): An ongoing anti-narcotics crackdown in Turkey has caused a stir, as several high-profile personalities from the entertainment, sports, and business sectors—including renowned actress Hande Erçel—have been taken into custody.
According to official sources, prosecutors in Istanbul issued detention orders for a total of 16 individuals. Among them are former football club presidents Fikret Orman and Burak Elmas. All individuals were detained by Istanbul’s anti-narcotics division.
The scope of the investigation also includes prominent business figures Hakan Sabancı and Kerem Sabancı, model Didem Soydan, and television host Güzide Duran, further intensifying the significance of the case.
Authorities stated that simultaneous raids were carried out at 16 different locations across the city, resulting in the arrest of 14 individuals, while arrest warrants have been issued for the remaining two suspects.
In a statement, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office said the operation aims to safeguard societal values and protect the family structure. Based on preliminary evidence, action was taken against individuals suspected of possessing narcotics or facilitating their use.
Officials confirmed that investigations are progressing swiftly and the case is being pursued with utmost seriousness, with further significant revelations expected.
