Washington (Monitoring Desk): The U.S. Department of Defense, the Pentagon, has prepared a plan to send 3,000 troops to the Middle East. According to U.S. media, these forces will comprise battalions from the 82nd Airborne Combat Brigade, which can be deployed with division headquarters as an emergency response force.
A U.S. official told Al Jazeera that the three battalions of the 82nd Airborne Division include approximately 3,000 troops and are expected to be deployed in the Middle East. The official added that while deployment preparations are complete, no formal orders have been issued yet.
He further noted that the 82nd Airborne Division has the capability to be deployed to any region worldwide within just 18 hours of receiving orders.
