Rains and War Impact Push Cotton Prices to Record High

Karachi (Commerce Desk): Due to recent rains, damage to the cotton crop, and disruptions in import activities caused by Gulf tensions, cotton prices in the local market have surged to a new peak.

During the past week, the price of cotton reached Rs. 20,000 per maund, marking the highest level of the current season, with further increases المتوقع in the coming days.

Experts say that recent rainfall has damaged already cultivated cotton crops, raising concerns about reduced production. At the same time, hurdles in cotton imports from abroad have added pressure on the market.

Analysts believe that if ongoing regional negotiations succeed and cotton imports from neighboring countries resume, prices may stabilize. Otherwise, the upward trend in prices is likely to continue.

According to experts, a few months ago, higher temperatures had accelerated cotton cultivation, and increased imports from international markets had led to a decline in prices. However, the current situation has completely reversed that trend.
