Islamabad (Pakistan News): Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that the government is considering reducing market operating hours as part of energy conservation measures.
Speaking in a private TV program, he stated that if the decision is implemented, wedding halls and restaurants may be required to close by 10 PM.
He further added that the Finance Minister will travel abroad next week to meet with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to brief them on the current economic situation, as the country faces potential major challenges.
According to Ali Pervaiz Malik, the United Arab Emirates supported Pakistan during difficult times by placing deposits worth $3.5 billion, and the government is prepared if their return is requested.
He also noted that after gas supply from Qatar was disrupted, local gas fields are currently providing 400 to 500 MMCFD of gas to meet energy demands.
