Rain and Snowfall Bring Destruction; Multiple Lives Lost

Islamabad (Pakistan News): Recent rains across the country and snowfall in upper علاقوں have once again turned the weather cold, while reports of loss of life and property have emerged from various regions.

In Balochistan, heavy rain and hailstorms in areas such as Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Kohlu, and Nasirabad led to flood-like conditions, where Frontier Corps carried out relief operations.

Meanwhile, snowfall during April in mountainous regions of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Naran, Swat, and Ziarat intensified the cold weather.

Intermittent rainfall was also recorded in various districts of Sindh and Punjab, while hailstorms in Dera Ghazi Khan and Fort Munro caused streams and nullahs to overflow.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rains disrupted normal life, with water from drains overflowing onto roads in Peshawar. At least four people lost their lives and 19 were injured in various incidents.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), since March 25, a total of 30 people have died and 85 have been injured due to the rains, while 140 houses were damaged—115 partially and 25 completely destroyed.

Affected areas include Bannu, Abbottabad, Kohat, Nowshera, Bajaur, Lakki Marwat, Kurram, Hangu, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Upper Dir, Battagram, North Waziristan, and Tank, where relief operations are ongoing.

The Meteorological Department has forecast that the current spell of rain will continue intermittently, with more rainfall expected from April 1 to 4.
