Issuing Passports to Overseas Pakistanis a Top Priority: Interior Minister

Islamabad (Pakistan News): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the expedited issuance of passports to overseas Pakistanis is a top priority. He chaired a special meeting with Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Saalik Hussain, reviewing progress on resident cards for Pakistanis in Spain and the legal status of undocumented migrants.

It was decided that passports and other documents will be issued to Pakistanis within one week before registration. Saalik Hussain noted that approximately 15,000 Pakistanis will benefit from this scheme in Spain and thanked the Interior Minister for supporting Pakistanis residing there.

Mohsin Naqvi instructed that passports must not be issued to criminals or wanted individuals, and additional staff will be provided to embassy passport sections. He added that verification of character certificates by the National Police Bureau has been made faster and easier, and these will be issued on a priority basis. The meeting also included detailed briefings from Pakistan’s Ambassador to Spain, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed, and the Consul General in Barcelona.
