Islamabad (Pakistan News): The Motorway Police, Pakistan has refunded over Rs 6 million to passengers collected as excess fares.
According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, a special campaign against overcharging and overloading has been underway since March 15 under the direction of IG Sultan Ahmed Choudhry, during which the refunds were issued.
The Motorway Police also reported that more than 22,000 challans have been issued to passenger vehicles for overloading, overcharging, and incomplete travel documents. Citizens can register complaints with motorway police officers, via helpline 130, or through the social media handle @NHMPofficial.
As part of cost-saving and fuel conservation measures, over 24,000 vehicles were challaned for exceeding the new speed limits since March 12. Motorway police officers are also raising awareness about the new speed limits and road safety at toll plazas across the country.
